Congratulations IPAHW 2019 Winners!

We would like to congratulate Northeast Puppy 2019 Pup Sirius and Handler David for winning their respective titles at this year’s International Puppy and Handler Weekend!

We would also like to congratulate Pup Whiskey, your North Star Puppy 2019, for representing the North Star Kennel Club in his run for the International Puppy title!

We understand Daddy Nick, your North Star Handler 2019, has some upcoming contest plans of his own. As we learn them, we will announce them here and on Facebook and Twitter. Stay tuned!

2020 North Star Puppy and Handler Weekend Planning Underway

After the success of the 2019 North Star Puppy and Handler (NSPAH) Weekend, the Lead Pack voted unanimously to begin planning the 2020 North Star Puppy and Handler Contests at its April 2019 meeting. Sir Randy, who led the 2019 planning committee, was elected as chair of a permanent planning committee which was also created.

While venues, dates, and times have yet to be confirmed, the Lead Pack voted to set the dates of the 2020 North Star Puppy and Handler Weekend for April 3-5, 2020.

First-Ever North Star Puppy and Handler Contests Award Titles

2019 North Star Handler Daddy Nick and 2019 North Star Puppy Pup Whiskey

The North Star Kennel Club hosted the first-ever North Star Puppy and Handler Contests over the weekend of March 8-10, 2019. The contest started with a Meet and Greet at the eagleBOLT bar on Friday, March 8. Five contestants were introduced to the crowd:

  • two Handler contestants – Daddy Nick and Alpha Pup Executioner
  • three Puppy contestants – Pup Winter, Pup Tatsu, and Pup Whiskey

Statement Regarding NSPAH Weekend Forecast

NSPAH Application Deadline Extended to February 22, 2019

The producers of the upcoming 2019 North Star Puppy and Handler Contests have decided to extend the contestant application deadline one week to Friday, February 22, 2019. The contestant application is available here.

The contests are limited to a total of twelve contestants. If there is only one contestant in a given category (i.e., puppy or handler), that category will not be contested.

Introducing the 2019 NSPAH Judges: Pup Kona

Over the past six weeks, we have been introducing the judges for the inaugural North Star Puppy and Handler Contests. Last, but certainly not least, is Pup Kona.


Pup Kona is the current producer of IPTC and on the board of IPAHW, past IPTC International Puppy 2015 and NW Puppy 2015, two-time Pantheon of Leather award recipient, co-founder of the BLFC Puppy Summit Group, co-founded the 1st ever pup and Handler contest in AU (Australian Pup and Handler Competition), co-founder of Paw and Pounce Weekend, and contributing writer for the pupplay.info website.

This Wednesday and next, we will be introducing one of the judges for the inaugural North Star Puppy and Handler Contests. Our next judge is Pup Dodger.


Pup Dodger was the first ever Michigan Puppy back in 2016, making his way through to become the Great Lakes Puppy in 2017, then becoming the IPTC International Puppy 2017/18.
